We screen every vendor + venue on our showcase.

We evaluate every wedding venue in Hudson Valley Budget Brides. (Yes, we actually turn down locations that don’t satisfy our requirements.) When you see descriptive text about a location, it was edited by us, not by a marketing intern somewhere.

These folks are always handpicked and invited by us and we don’t just accept listings from anyone. We’re discnerningly picky, as any good New Yorker is, but there would be no helpful central directory for engaged couples if our site wasn’t compensated. Everyone goes through our vetting process first—and we do turn down locations that we don’t think we can wholeheartedly recommend.

We do our best to be accurate, but of course, things change—and we aren’t always the first to know, so be sure you check each place and service thoroughly and ask lots of questions. Hudson Valley Budget Brides is not held responsible for the contract you ultimately sign with any vendor found on our site, or for how your wedding event goes. That’s between you and each featured business. Our best advice is to be thorough, careful consumers and get every single thing in writing. This is what we tell our family and best friends, so this is what we’re telling you.

For the bride or groom....

Most couples tend to book their venue around a year in advance. If you have a particular venue and date in mind, it is a good idea to book even further in advance to ensure you are not disappointed. There are however benefits of leaving it later – many venues offer last minute deals and late availability packages so it is always worth asking about these if you are booking your wedding at short notice.

A lot of your research can be done online before you start visiting the wedding venues in person. Decide on the type of venue you would like to go for, a theme for the wedding, the number of guests you would like to invite and your budget. You can then narrow your search down to the venues that meet your exact requirements which will save you having a show round at a venue that may be over your budget or not be able to cater for all your guests for example.

Although more than 50% of weddings take place on a Saturday, the other days of the week are becoming increasingly popular and you can often find some fantastic discounts available for mid week or Sunday weddings

Wedding fairs are a great way of getting inspiration and ideas for your big day and are also a great opportunity to see the wedding venue set up for a wedding. Wedding fairs take place throughout the year at venues all around the Hudson Valley region. Please see our EVENTS page to browse upcoming expos.

August remains the most popular month to get married with around 20% of weddings taking place within that month. Although the summer months tend to be more popular, decide on a theme for your wedding as this will help you decide the time of year that would suit you best. If you are looking for a festival style wedding for example then the summer months would suit but equally appealing is a Winter wedding with mulled wine for your guests and roaring log fires.

Most wedding venues will have a range of wedding packages to suit most styles and budgets but if your dream wedding venue isn’t offering exactly what you had in mind then don’t be afraid to negotiate as the vast majority of venues will be happy to try and tailor make a package to perfectly suit you.

The average wedding has around 80 guests but it is entirely up to you how many you decide to invite. You may prefer a small intimate wedding with just a few family and friends or a far more lavish affair with hundreds of guests. This all depends on your preference and budget

The average cost of a 2024 wedding in Hudson Valley is around $29,000 although this figure does vary depending on the area in which you are getting married. For example expect this average to increase if choosing a Hudson or Catskills venue. It really is important to set your budget before you start looking at venues.
